Not every faster payment completes as planned. This course focuses on what happens when the payment flow breaks, examining message rejections, failures, and exceptions across faster payments rails. Students will explore why transactions fail, how institutions respond, and what responsibilities apply when payments do not post as expected. The session covers exception handling tools, timelines for resolution, requests for returns and reversals, and post-transaction evaluation. It also addresses fraud reporting obligations and escalation processes, helping students understand how institutions recover, learn from failures, and reduce future exceptions.
